"Little man" just after the mess has been cleared away (he's probably going to be named 'Mango Jam').

The black object behind him is my scarf.

Mom is very very exhausted from her efforts. She still hasn't looked up to see what she that whole ordeal was all about.

(& this photo has been cropped to be suitable for all audiences. Those who want to see the gory details will have to wait a few days for the 'breeding documentary' photo page charting their progress) :-)

Heather (my sister who rides jumpers) helps to capture the wild guy so we can dry him off.

Someday when the two of them go riding over 5 foot fences, we'll have this great picture of their first meeting. He took his first big leap of 1.5' x 1.5' (with miles to spare) ~thirty six hours after this kodak moment. He's already decided what he wants to do when he grows up.

3/22/01 Heath is very mad at me for not mentioning that she (and my father) want him to be called "Jimmyjam". Heath thinks its incredibly funny to hear dad call him this.

Mom finally gets up for a bit and takes a minute to check out her new baby.
Baby is dry now but mom is still a little too tired to get up again. I've dragged the poor guy around so they can bond a little more though.

While mom discovers that she now has room again for food, I immediately begin the training to STAND STILL!
(Precocious is an understatement!)

Isn't he HUGE!!!

(guesstimates are 100-120lb)

Figuring out the finer details of nursing was quite a bit of a challenge at first (the doctors tell me this is because he's a boy, and they're a bit, ahem, slower). But he's got this one down pat finally.
Don't let the cute looks fool you! He's a wild, wild little boy.

By Monday morning, mom had finally seemed to feel fully maternal. Now she won't take her eyes off of him. She's a great mom.

By Monday afternoon, everyone gets to go outside finally.
By Monday evening he has become extremely demanding about dinner. Poor mom was sleeping and he woke up first. This photo was taken shortly before he kicked her in the head while trying to nurse her laying down. After that didn't work he stomped his feet and pawed. I'm really going to have my hands full. :-)
